What is Proviron?

Proviron, officially known as Mesterolone, is one of the oldest anabolic androgenic steroids (AAS) on the market, first appearing by the pharmaceutical company Schering in 1934.  It is an extremely unique AAS and remains to be one of the most understood steroids among steroid users.  Although it shares some similarities to some steroids such as Masteron, Anavar, and Winstrol, its benefits are quite specific and different to most other anabolic steroids available.

Mesterolone is a DHT-derived compound, designed primarily to treat androgen deficiencies and hypogonadism.  It has also been used as a fertility aid in men.  This characteristic alone makes Proviron a very unique anabolic steroid, as most tend to have the opposite effect.  Structurally, the addition of a methyl-group at C-1 allows the hormone to survive oral ingestion, protecting it from hepatic breakdown.  Although one of the most commonly used anabolic steroids for therapeutic use in modern medicine, Mesterolone has never been approved by the U.S. FDA.  

Proviron is rarely used on its own to produce direct results in a performance capacity.  It is almost solely used among other steroids in a stack due to its synergistic and enhancing effects.  It has been commonly used as both a mild yet effective aromatase inhibitor during a cycle due to its strong affinity to the aromatase enzyme, and it acts as a powerful muscle hardener towards the end of cutting cycles.  It has weak anabolic properties and therefore, it more commonly thought of as an oral androgen; therefore, is not generally used for mass building in bulking cycles.

Another unique action of Proviron is its affinity to the sex-hormone-binding-globulin protein.  This prevents testosterone from binding to the protein, resulting in more free-testosterone in the body.  This allows for other steroids you may be using to be more active and potent.

What is the recommended dosage?

Most male athletes will find they see the positive effects of Provion at doses of 50-100mg per day.   It has a half-life of 12 hours, and therefore doses should be split and taken twice per day.  The dosage of Proviron heavily depends on which other compounds you are using, as it is used mainly to mitigate the estrogenic effects of other steroids.  Proviron is not recommended for use in women.

What does Proviron stack well with? 

Proviron is rarely used on its own because it has limited anabolic effects.  It is most commonly used to mitigate estrogenic effects by other steroids in a cycle, and therefore, can be added to any stack to enhance the effects of other steroids and produce a harder physique.

It is most common to see a testosterone compound used as a base with Proviron, as this will provide you with a highly beneficial result of increased free-testosterone.  It is commonly used in cutting cycles with the addition of compounds like Clenbuterol, Winstrol, Anavar, and Masteron as it reduces water-retention, producing a harder physique.
