Description

Proscar 1.25mg is a prescription medication containing the active ingredient finasteride. It is primarily used to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), a condition in which the prostate gland becomes enlarged and causes problems with urination.

Proscar works by blocking the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a hormone that contributes to prostate growth. By reducing DHT levels in the prostate, Proscar can relieve symptoms such as difficulty urinating, frequent urination, and urinary urgency.

In addition to treating BPH, Proscar has also been used off-label for hair loss in men, as DHT is a major contributor to male pattern baldness. However, the dosage for hair loss is much lower than that used for BPH, and it is important to note that Proscar is not FDA-approved for hair loss.

Each pack of Proscar 1.25mg contains 60 tablets, and it should be taken orally once a day with or without food. It may take several months of regular use to see significant improvement in BPH symptoms.

As with all prescription medications, Proscar may cause side effects, including decreased libido, impotence, breast tenderness or enlargement, and decreased semen volume. If you experience any of these or other side effects, you should contact your healthcare provider immediately.
